Can you guys tell me I there is any known problems with certain years F150s? I'm thinking of looking at models as low as 08 to try and cut costs. I have heard rumors that prior to the 2010 models there were issues with the F150s. Is this true?

I can't thank you guys enough.

There tends to be difficulty changing spark plugs on pre 06 5.4s. Some of them can also have issues with the cam phasers. My 08 had a shifting issue, but that was fixed with a simple flash of the PCM.

Just be sure you go through a reputable dealer that'll give at least 30 days warranty.

Carfax too my friend. And they seemed to have fixed the engine problem by the 2010 model year. I think spark plugs were still a b**** to change, but thats it. Lariats will give you the luxury you want and still get the job done for hunting and off-roading.

The 2v 5.4 is great. The 3v however has had some probs. plugs braking ,coils.
Not really that bad. All fixable and cheep

Not a fan of carfax. I've seen carfax mess up a few times and say the car was not in an accident. And it clearly was.

I really mean it guys. I appreciate this info and help. I think I have narrowed it down to 2010 lariat.

Either that or a 2010 FX4 with some bells and whistles added.

Anything to look out for in either of these trucks or models? Are there certain years I should avoid? I know you guys just kind of answered these questions above, but I want to clarify if these are for certain models or just all F150s in general?

F150's are all basically the same for the same model year, same frame, suspension, engines, etc. the only difference between trim levels is the amount of technology included and how nice the interior is. There's no problems I know of that are just associated with the FX4 or Lariats for 2010.

Not quite. 04 they went to a box style frame. Suspension and drivetrain upgraded in 04 & 09. Also 11 upgraded to new motors

No I'm just talking about for one model year lol, all trucks are basically the same in 2002 just for that year, and 2010 models just for that year, get what I'm saying? Lol. For his 2010 model year the trucks are the same, just different trim levels is what makes them different.

So if I stuck with 2010 (since that's what my pockets can handle) is there anything I need to be aware of?
