    Spare tire

    Hi
In the past three months I have just brought my first Ford and first truck, a F150 STX with Sports package, I love it, it's the most comfortable vehicle I have ever driven being that I am 6'5 tall.
Yesterday I managed to pic up a nail and was close enough to pull into the dealership where I brought it, and they told me they would have to put the spare on it overnight since it was too late to repair and that I should return today to get it back, however the spare is completely different to the Bridgestone's I have on it, the service guy told me is normal, but since I've spent over $30,000 on this I want to know if this really is what Ford do to new trucks or not before complaining.

    Thanks for your guidance

Welcome to the forum and glad you like your truck so far. And yes, unfortunately although your truck comes with nice tires, the spare is usually just something cheap thats there to be able to get you around, not look pretty. It helps keep the costs down a bit.

Unfortunately it is so, most people will never use it, so that is why they just put some generic brand tire for it. It does save you, the buyer, a few hundred dollars. Luckily though, at least our trucks come with spares whereas other vehicles you have to pay extra to add it on. And look at the bright side, you're getting it fixed and will have nice looking wheels and tires by today again.

I disagree. My truck is brand new as well. My spare is on the truck. I had an incident where I woke up with 3 flats. Turned out to b two bad valve stems. And one bad tire. They put the spare on the right rear at my request. And a new tire on left side as well. I wanted the spare on it so I could keep better track of the milage on the tires as a pair. Ford put the very same tire on the spare. And placed it back up under the bed. This is just my own personal experience. But the same tire was under the truck on the spare. I'm sure it happins. Just didn't happin to me.

So your spare tire was exactly the same as the tires that came on your truck? In that case, OP go back and demand a better tire lol. My truck is an '05 but it came with just a plane tire. I guess they changed what tires they used for spares. And good luck with that Joe when you blow your tires from burnouts and have no spare, I don't think fix a flat fixes that lmao.

Interesting. My 2014 xlt has 5 Michelin's. The spare wheel is ugly though. I guess I planned to keep the spare as a spare so it wouldn't really bother me. Then again...I don't know why about much.
