Dealer said i have sludged in motor

Took my truck in yesterday to get the last warranty work done. My truck is a 2011 f150 4x4 FX4 with the 5.0 coyote motor and the truck has 35820 miles on it. The reason I took it in was the motor would have a like lifter tick that would come and go. Well they told me they looked at the motor and it is sludged up and don't think they can warranty the problem because it is sludged up now I change the oil between 5000 and 8000 miles on that truck and I work on cars and build cars all the time and have been for over 25 years and am retired from ford motor co. When I asked to see the truck and motor they said it's in back and I said I like to see the inside of motor because the valve cover or what they took off to determine this should be off they said they did not take anything off to determine it so I asked how the hell did they come to this and he said he will have to talk to his service manager to see what can be done and avoided my question completely. Anyone else have this issue when taking there truck in for service.

Man sounds like some jerks work there. There is no way there is any sludge in the motor if you do oil changes even at 8k miles between. They have to show u proof if they wana deny warranty on it. Besides you have 60k mile warranty on the motor. Your best bet is to call the ford hotline not the dealer and have them call the dealer. I worked at a ford store so I know all there polices

The funny thing is after the first oil change I had done ( from the dealer) I only run Amsoil full synthetic in that truck that's what I can't get I have been running Amsoil in everything I own for years even in my race cars so it's not like I'm running cheep oil in it.

Sounds like BS. Sludge in a brand new engine with regular oil changes? I wouldn't believe him one bit

NFW! They need to show u proof about your warranty issue That's a bunch of malarkey I have the same motor. I've put 2 oil changes in her already. I have not had a ticking noise as of yet. I would indeed call someone from ford other than your dealer. That's a big mess right there. Best of luck

Yea this is another case of what we have discussed before. Crap mechanics giving a good company a bad name. I would definitely be putting a call into ford.

No offense Alfie but there are a bunch of really s***ty dealers an mechanics here in SoCal if it's warranty work they don't care. So OP it's your dealer being an @$$hole. Call Ford corporate and they'll take care of you. It's jar to find reputable dealers now-a-days. But yes that mechanic is full of it for a truck that new and well maintained.

the one in my town couldn't even tell my dad what their antifreeze protects down too.. Or how much it would be to fix my window. Or a quote on fixing the valve cover gasket And hiring people that don't even know what the cabs are called. Sent from my iPhone using F150 App

I'm reading a book. It is called the "Third Option". I get tired of this stuff. Anyhow, I would definitely first pursue how the "sludge theory" was determined. I would wait patiently and ask for documentation. Then I would ask what would cause that. Then I would explain how often I do oil changes and let them know that I can prove it with receipts for the oil.

Before I left I would exhaust all possibilities that they were refusing service and I would make sure I had the diagnosis in writing and what was done to make the determination.

Then I would contact Ford in writing--not on the phone. If they refused to fix it, I would fix it with my mechanic and we would be in Court. Ford would know that before I proceeded and it would never get that far.

It may not be the best way for everyone, but it works for me. I really hope it helps too.
