Well gentlemen, at 13 months out and 17k+ miles, it started running rough and dying. Check engine and service light came on, I pulled into a shop and had her scanned. Mechanical issue with the variable timing is causing one side to run fully advanced, and one side to run fully retarded.....essentially causing it to not run, because three cylinders on one bank weren't running. I trailered it home from the coast (I was over enjoying the coast with my fiance when it happened) and took it to my mechanic to look at. The short of it is that it looks like the same thing happened to this motor.....the variable timing messed up and probably ruined the motor. I'm going to call the manufacturer (ATK) today and talk to them about warranty. I have a 3 year either 36k or 100k mile warranty on it, so I am covered either way. Sounds like ATK got bought out a few years ago and their quality has gone downhill according to the mechanics I've talked to about it. Hopefully warranty gives me a new engine that's all properly rebuilt! I'll keep you all posted!
Best of luck. Stay On them.

The motor is getting pulled next week by my mechanic and ATK is going to ship it from Oregon to Houston, Texas to disassemble it and then send me a new one once it is verified that it is a manufacturer's defect that caused it. I'll try to keep you all updated!

Joe, did you actually know that I'm a devil dog? And I take it that you're one too?

    Roger that! Semper Fi!

Well, I talked to my mechanic yesterday because I hadn't heard from him since last week and was curious to know if he had shipped the motor yet (they pulled it last week). He told me that they decided to dig into it a little bit before they sent it off.....because once it's out of their hands, there's nothing he can do for me....and ATK is going to want to save all the money they can. I'm glad that he decided to dig into it!

Apparently there was a tensioner or chain stop or something that broke off that they could see and it was obvious when they took the cover off. He ordered the part and is going to fix it. He's pretty confident that they'll be able to fix it for me and get it all good to go! So he's going to do that, get it back into the truck, and get it running, and send me a bill so I can start the fun process of dealing with ATK to get them to cover it under the warranty. That's gonna be a chore......

I'd much rather have my mechanic fix it for me then send it off to Houston Texas to be disassembled and then possibly reassembled and sent back to me with issues still. I trust my mechanic and I know that he's going to fix it right! He should have it done late next week or sometime the week after that! Now I just get to decide if I actually want to keep this truck since the motor has already given me issues....thankfully I have warranty for another 22 months, so I can at least take some time to decide!

How much fun lol. Well hopefully this is the last time something on your truck breaks then. I hope it all works out with the warranty stuff too. Keep us posted!
