No shift when foot is buried

Ok so some jacka** wouldn't move over and I had to floor it and it went up to 4,500-5,000 rpm but it wouldn't shift ( over drive in gauged ) I had to let up or it would have redlined is that a problem? Or normal?

no problems at all really smooth actually. it just's when you put in to the floor then it won't shift with or without over drive in gauged

Were you on flat ground or an incline? I've hit about 5800 rpm in my truck in first gear because I punched it on an inclined freeway onramp. Didn't sound good but it shifted lol.
