    Chrome Rim Compound?

Picked these up off of CraigsLisp for $200. They will look perfect on Ms. Pearl, and I'm putting new tires on next week (275/65/18 Duratracs), so the timing couldn't have been better.

I took them to the local spray and wash, and hit them with some rim cleaner and a brush, and got most of the major gunk off. However, there is still some grime/brake dust/whatever that needs some extra attention. Since I have a week before they will have tires on them, I might as well get them as close to perfection as possible. What would you guys use? Is there some kind of chrome rubbing compound that may have a little grit to it? If I pick at the stuff with my fingernails, it comes off, so I know it's not pitting, its gunk.

Lol. The last thing I want in a chrome polish is grit lol. Biiiig no no. You'll hate that swirl lol. Mothers/McGuire/ turtle wax. All make great chrome polishes. I have an abundance of #7 chrome polish. Used to made by turtle wax. But I haven't seen it on the shelves in years.

Btw. Nice wheels. Bust of luck. 2 - 3 coats of chrome polish with lots of elbow grease will look amazing

The last thing U. Not I. Well..... I don't want it either lol

I used to use a chrome polish made by Simonex I think, can't remember the name of it though. Used it with a old tooth brush it worked great.

So the polishes clean as well? I was planning on getting one of those powerball dealys and applying some 18 volt RIGID grease to them. Nothing too rough, but I'm running out of fingernails.
I was also thinking a clay bar might be rough enough, but I think I'll heed your advice and give the polish a run first.

I wouldn't use mr clean stuff on wheels haha. I would use some good chrome wheel cleaner then some chrome wheel polish and a microfiber towel.

Turtle Wax Chrome polish or Magic Blue, it'll work wonders for chrome.

I've used it to clean parts of my steering wheel and some blue stuff on the pillar and I used it on my rear bumper's plastic trim to clean it. It didn't do bad

It's a fine Brillo. It scratches. That's how it cleans so well. Takes the top layer off. U have to know that kid. Your a detailer right?

Polish my brother. The tooth brush is an old school way to apply. ( still a good one). But nothing but polish on your chrome. McGuires and mothers make a great product. If they were mine. That's what I would do.
