The 6 speed transmission that comes standard with the F150 5.0L V8 is a big improvement in driver controls over passed 4 speed transmissions. However, there are still some benefits to be had recalibrating normal daily shift strategies.
We have noticed that while in normal everyday mode that the transmission will move into 6 gear really quickly around town with speeds as low as 30-38 mph this really lugs the engine and when trying to accelerate there is a pretty good delay to either downshift or accelerate. We can correct this by moving some shift strategies patterns around in all gears especially in 5th and 6th gears.
In the tow/haul mode the Factory strategies in are very inefficient. 6th gear is useless under 60 mph. Coasting or slowing down the downshifts don’t command soon enough to keep the RPM’s up in torque range and when back in throttle multiple down shifts occur. Gears 2nd, 3rd and 4th are the gears the truck likes to run at under 60 mph towing 5000lb or heavier trailer but its in 6th gear at 50 mph lugging engine. Once RPM’s builds to 3000 plus the truck pulls like a champ but factory strategies keep RPM’s low. For owners of F150 5.0L v8 going to tow a travel trailer camper or trailers over 5000 lbs the factory strategies will hunt all over the place in tow/haul mode. We have recalibrated tow/haul mode strategies that enhances keeping the engine RPM’s elevated to take advantage of the torque band in this 5.0L v8 less downshifting and taking advantage of gears 2nd, 3rd and 4th more. All of our calibrations have this new tow/haul strategy except economy mode calibrations.
here's the video, you can see how the rpm is struggling to go up to 100km-h. with my ecoboost i didn't have to floor the pedal to reach normal driving speeds... took me almost 18 secs from 50 to 100kmh (30 to 60 mph)

    what do you think?

It sounds normal for a stock 5.0 with 35's towing 4500 lbs

I don't have experience with that particular motor but that looks about right to me just like Drew said. It doesn't look like you were foot to the floor the whole time

Didn't sound bad to me. At all. Mine is 3 times as loud and does just fine.

You also have a tune and don't have 35's.

then i was right from the beginning. the 5.0 is a poor engine. you guys drive a 3.5 twin turbo you will see and feel the torque difference at low rpms. i will not put a penny on this engine. guess what my next truck in 4 years is going to be

im just saying daily driver its great. the engine is struggling with towing compared to the EB. i have driven an EB and towed 4.5K lbs for 30 months straight( 5 days a week ) now towing with the 5.0 sucks big ass. i made a poor choice, its my fault to not had it test driven it towing my own trailer.

You made a poor choice by not being informed before you went to the dealership. You were happy with your EB because it did what you needed it to for 30 months 5 days a week. So thats what you wanted and should have got. If that dealership did not have what you wanted, bye. There are other dealerships in your town I'm sure. And if not, you could have ordered one from Ford.

With that said, what are you going to do at this point?
