Lol he does know his stuff. It doesn't make sense to me either but I'm no engineer.

It's not a nasty camber but you can definitely see it. I wouldn't want it to be that way in forward gears though for sure.

This is a pic I took today. I'm not sure how much it helps because it's not even on perfect level (thus exaggerating the angle), but it hopefully helps illustrate the effect.

For the record, my Ford Contour didn't do it and I never saw it on anything else I've owned or observed so it might be just this front end design on these trucks.

    ----------

If I think about it I'll try backing up with 4WD locked to see if it's the rear having a dragging effect on the front.

Could it be to get more grip when reversing? This is extremely weird and it moves back when you put it in drive?

can you post a picture of it in park? Or was it in reverse when this picture was taken?

It's in park (and ignition off) for that photo. It had to be because no one was in it.

It's not moving as in a feature when you change gears ie the way automatic door locks engage. It just seems like the front gets pulled when you physically move backwards and for some reason or another the tires spread eagle in the process. Driving forward seems to push the tires straight again. You could probably throw it in neutral and push or winch the truck forward and the tires would straighten.

I'm not sure if being 4WD locked would keep the tires straight or not since it would be helping move the vehicle (as opposed to the front being dragged by the rear in 2WD). I never tried it. I will though if I remember to.

    ----------

I just think there's just some strange front end design "fault" that allows the wheels or hubs or something to wiggle when the vehicle is moving backwards but doesn't have the same wiggle in forward motion.

    That's my theory anyway.

    ----------

I mean I've had it up to 90mph on the highway and it's perfect so I don't think there's anything...well...wrong. Not in the "gotta replace my garbywhatsyhoosit bushings before annual inspection" sense at least.
