Thread: Steering wheel vibrating at 70mph

My steering wheel starts shaking when I hit 70 mph. My wheel weights are on the inner side of the rim so I can't tell if the pass front one is missing but it feels like that tire is almost "hopping" at 70 and w/ any small bumps. So my question is could I be missing the weight or is my shock or some other component going bad?

Have them rebalanced. Or rotate them one at a time and see if it shifts to the body instead.

Re balance and rotate was first on my list. Just wanted to know if I needed anything else checked or if anyone else had this happen.

Without a balance machine, the best would be to rotate just the left side. Drive it. If it still shakes you know the right side is missing a weight. If it goes away or follows to a body shake you know its the left side.
