Open rear end? You mean non-limited slip? Nope, if you buy a 4X4 they put either a limited slip or a new electronic locking rear end. They don't put nls rear ends on 4X4's. And that's fine then.

That's actually not true. They make 4x4 with open diffs. Both of my trucks have open diff. Limited slip was an option along with elocker.
But like they said, blistiens or ranchos. I got Ranchos on my explorer and love them.

No offense to you or your trucks but it just seems kind of pointless to have nls on a 4X4 IMO. If you get stuck 4WD isn't going to help because you're just going to spin.

I completely understand. I don't agree with it, but for an on the road 4x4, it's cheaper. You have to think of it from the manufacturers point of view. Not everyone that buys a 4x4 will ever use it.
Look at your axle tag. That will tell you if it's LS or not.

Oh mines a 2WD with nls I know that, I barely go off the road with it lol maybe some gravel and hard packed sand. And very true, but it just seems like if you're gunna spend the extra for 4WD you'd plan on using it eventually lol.

You would think that. But how many times have you seen a 4x4 or even f250 and higher go unused. There is a good portion of people who by trucks as a status, and they never leave the pavement or even never tow a think in their life.

True, you do have a pretty valid point there. I just don't get spending the money on something unless you have a use for it though.
