And its stronger on the right side of the motor
Like an electrical burning smell?
No it smells like oil hopefully it's a gasket or a valve or something small
Valve cover gaskets r only sold in a set. Bout 70$ doesn't take that long either. If u see them leaking. Try to tighten them first and see how that works. If not. Purchase the gaskets.
Now. Burning oil smell? R u burning oil? Have u checked the stick? Could b valve seals. Could b rings. If it's rings? Weigh your options. Valve seals. Not a bad job. Time consuming. But not impossible.
Yeah I don't notice a drop in oil at all my brother thinks it's a PVC valve
Does this look like oil? It's A little blurry
Is that the valve cover? I can't really tell what I'm looking at in the pic except there's a fuel injector on the right side. If its the valve cover I would say yes it looks like oil to me. Wipe some off and see.
X2^
I would. But

Lol, guess you'll be waiting for spring lol. But that sucks man.
Yeah I can't wait until all of this flamethrower worthy crap is gone
Lmao, I can picture that haha.
Found the oil leak but not sure if it's coming from the valve cover or oil pan the picture is through the wheel well by the header and the frame
Best way to tell is to try and follow it up. It could b minor. As one could only hope lol. But maybe it's just a valve cover gasket. My 03 leaked as well. Bout 60$ er so for both gaskets. They only sell them a a a pair.

Took about 2 hrs for both
Ok cool when ( if ) I drive it tomarrow I'll check
----------
Whats the best way? Unbolt and take off or do you have to do something special like drive it before?
To check it? Or install? To install. I drove it to my shop. It's was hot! Had to move a few things. But they all go back together nice. Took it off. Cleaned it well. Checked a few other things while it was off. It looked good. New seal. And some sealer around the edges and back together u go. Grab a Haines manual. Bout 30$. Might b 20$ now but it's nice to have a guide
I think I got my Hayne's manual off of Rockauto.com for like $20, but yes it has been extremely helpful for a lot of things.
Ok thanks I'll find that booklet or manual when i do the repair
I got the chance to look at the undercarriage of my truck the frame is in really good condition has been under coated multiple times. The rear axial's plug it tight as crap and the gasket is very old and leaking along with about half the motor.. S**T!! I'll post pictures later
----------
It mostly on the right side valve cover and oil pan gasket and oil leaking on the ac compressor and right side of the transmission
Yes those are different parts of the motor and they all have oil leaking from them on the right side..
Look in the valley between the heads under the intake manifold. Looks to me it's comming from up top

Ok I'll look tomarrow thanks

Hopefully it's not leaking from the head gasket ( I don't have the money for stuff like this until summer )
I'm going to try to flow the oil trail along the motor today ( hopefully )

Would swiching to motocraft half and half slow the oil leaks and be better for the motor I heard on another Fourm that a guy switched to synthetic and it leaked less oil?

I don't think switching from non-synthetic to synthetic will help much, but I could be wrong. If you use a heavier weight oil that will help, that's what I did in my '71 Buick and it just about stopped a leak that was pretty substantial (but that was because it was a ridiculously high weight which you shouldn't use on these Ford engines). If you're running 20W you can go up to 30W but no higher and it might help a little.
It will be under Literature once you select your vehicle and it gives you a list of sub-catagories.
Which one would be it they don't have much detail on the pages

synthetics tend to have more cleaners and could increase the amount of leakage. I would stay with recommended weight, clean the engine and find out where it is leaking before doing anything. Maybe you did that and I missed it. Hope that helps.
Get both Haynes and Chilton. I find that one always seems to have info the other one doesn't.
Got one of each for my Navi and haven't regretted it. Check Amazon and eBay first though. I got both for less than $20 between the two sites.
