2000-2003. Or a 2000-2010 4.6 but for the 5.4 you want to get the 2000-2003. They aren't filled with problems Originally Posted by Arobbins

Lol the 5.4 only got more power and had less problems as the years went on. They fixed the spark plug issue in the later years. Originally Posted by Ford Fan#1
As for the 4.6L, in '09 they brought the 3V variation into the F-150 finally.
To be honest it depends on why he's looking to do. Daily driver? Towing/hauling? Off-roading? Do you need a V8 or just a V6? If you need the V8 do you need a lot of power or just enough to get you and whatever you tow around?
