    Fords next F150

I was watching CNN this morning and ford announced that the next F150 may go to an aluminum body.. Ford stated that that the aluminum body would greatly decrease weight and help with fuel economy.. of course leave it to the media and criticizing for using aluminum thinking that it would turn away the ford f 150 faithful because it would question the durability of the truck..
My opinion is I dont think it would because ford as well as the rest of the automotive industry has been making aluminum body parts for more than a decade on mainstream vehicles. Jaguar has been making the XJ all aluminum when they were under ford ownership since 2002 and Audi as well with their A8.. The foundation is still a steel frame.. Whats your opinion?

Is going to aluminum the only way to improve fuel economy? I don't buy it. Ford, like most other corporations are masters at creating an image and in this case, give the image that they're doing something significant when, I fact, just like the ecoboost, the improvements were marginal, but the sales went through the roof. Not that I don't like ford - I do. I'm very happy with my KR ecoboost except the tail pipe is still black with unburned fuel deposits which tells me there's lots of room for improvement before on the engine before an aluminum body is needed to get better fuel economy. That's my 2 cents worth.
