    Engine mods

Hello guys, I've got a 05 5.4 that im wanting to do a few things to such as a programmer cold air, exhaust work, basically all the easy stuff under 500$ I was just looking for advice on what y'all have used and experiences? So far I'm looking at a spectre cold air intake, either the hypertech max performance or edge evolution CS or CS2 programmer, also I was wondering about a throttle body spacer I have been reading and some forums say they help with the low end and some people say they don't do anything and to not waste the money. Any info is appreciated!

I'm not 100% familiar with a 5.4, but I say just get a tuner and be done. Exhaust for sound if you want. Most cold air intakes are a waste of money, as well as the throttle body spacer. As far as horsepower gain vs. Cost

5.4 single over head cam engine? I seen these in Mustangs and Lightnings and know what to do with them, though for a truck? Might be something different. Though, I'll give you somethings to look to. Easy stuff under 500? T/body, CAI, plenum, cat back, mid pipe, n tune. t/body spacers? pretty much yes, waste. Don't do under-drive pulleys, the modular engines don't respond well to them as did the pushrod 302s. Later if you want heads and cams would be great for power increase. Such as with the Trick Flow heads.
When done n looking to the money you have gone and spent on all of this, you might come to the notion that a Supercharger n dyno tune would have been better off. Thing is the restrictions would still be there, easier the air gets in and smoother it goes out, the better the engine will perform. Just you would still make more power with it then with only the bolt ons.

Before you buy something based on the price I suggest that you know exactly what a product can and cannot do.

    ----------

Caution: The Evolution employs carefully modified strategies that are designed to beutilized on unmodified (stock) vehicles only. Many aftermarket components such as cold air intake (CAI) kits, exhaust systems, and throttle body spacers as well as forced induction systems (turbochargers, superchargers, nitrous oxide, etc) alter the calculated airflow characteristics of theengine. In addition, mechanical modifications to the engine such as displacementchanges, camshaft modification, and cylinder head modification may alter calculatedairflow characteristics.Using any of these modifications (either alone or in any combination) in conjunctionwith the Evolution is NOT RECOMMENDED as it may cause an excessively leancondition which could result in engine damage.Edge Products will not be responsible for any damages caused by using theEvolution on a vehicle that has been modified from a stock configuration.

X2. Sct is the cats @$$ for ford period. I may b wrong. But I don't think u can custom tune an edge programmer. If u can its a pita. If your looking for a good spot to get one?
Custom Dynomemeter Chassis Tuning Products and Services - 5 Star Tuning. Great deals. Great know how. And even better after the sale. Free tunes for life. Do your research on programmers. There are tons out there. What you want is something custom for your truck. A can tune kinda blows. Does the job. But it wasn't made specifically for your truck That's what counts. Figure out what your Tryin to do. More power? Better mileage? Wheel and tire calibration? All things to think about.
