Rolled over 3k miles on the new motor yesterday! Took her up elk hunting and came back with a good thousand pounds of meat and gear in the back and averaged 15.5 mpg on the way home!

Well, yeah, I do. I've got thirty thousand on the truck since I bought it almost two years ago now…….been putting a lot on it lately, what with hunting and all…..my unit was on the other side of the state.

Well gentlemen, at 13 months out and 17k+ miles, it started running rough and dying. Check engine and service light came on, I pulled into a shop and had her scanned. Mechanical issue with the variable timing is causing one side to run fully advanced, and one side to run fully retarded.....essentially causing it to not run, because three cylinders on one bank weren't running. I trailered it home from the coast (I was over enjoying the coast with my fiance when it happened) and took it to my mechanic to look at.

The short of it is that it looks like the same thing happened to this motor.....the variable timing messed up and probably ruined the motor. I'm going to call the manufacturer (ATK) today and talk to them about warranty. I have a 3 year either 36k or 100k mile warranty on it, so I am covered either way. Sounds like ATK got bought out a few years ago and their quality has gone downhill according to the mechanics I've talked to about it. Hopefully warranty gives me a new engine that's all properly rebuilt!

    I'll keep you all posted!
