Depends on the oil pan. Mine takes 7.5 quarts....and trust me, I'm not a total idiot overfilling my truck I make a good portion of my living as an Ag Mechanic.

Some pans do call for 7.. Once again always shows half quart low even when it's full with 7..

A nice view of the shop this morning. It's nice to get to work in grandpa's shop! I learned on Thursday that the shop was funded by some inheritance money from my great grandpa, built by my grandpa and uncles, and I'm the third generation to use it.

There's a lot of wiring and crap on these new motors! I'm a fan of simple....aka the 60s and 70s when the most complicated think on it was the alternator or generator

I won't turn the key until probably Tuesday sometime if all goes well, as I have to wait on parts.

I've never done anything this complicated, not gonna lie. I'm about to turn 21 is all, but I started changing oil when I was I think about ten. I've worked for farmers since I was 14, and ran my own haying business during high school....gained a lot of mechanics skills on that gig, lol. I actually was planning on becoming a John Deere mechanic, but another path called.

All that to say I'm no genius when it comes to mechanics, but I've turned a few wrenches. And show me how to do it and I'll do it the next time!

    ----------

*and I always try to come at projects like this as if I'm a rookie. It can save you a lot of grief if you're open to advice and go back to the basics when you haven't done that exact project before, that's for sure!

Nope! My parts guy ordered the wrong part...needed the VCT Solenoid, he ordered the next part down on the list accidentally. So I didn't get the right part until today, and my neighbor can't help with it again until Friday. But I work Friday night, and so we're doing it Saturday.
Kinda bummed that we can't do it until then, but I've waited over a month, what's another couple days!?
