Thread: Ghost windshield wipers

Issue is wipers coming on by themselves shortly after the turn signal arm was used in a turning movement. The rotating end on the arm which activates the wipers normally is never engaged during the signal movement. Never happened all winter but now it has started again with the warmer air temperatures. Weird! Any advice??

I had this same thing happen in my 86 Ford Escort that had those automatic seat belts that would strap you in when you turned on the ignition. Whenever the temperature got to the low 70's outside, they decided to work. Any colder, I just prayed I wouldn't get into a wreck. We replaced the wiring harness in the steering column along with the ignition wiring in the column as well. It seemed to fix it. Hope this helps.
