Well I have my to do list for my truck come winter break and am in the process of getting everything I need. I plan on changing my rear differential gear oil. It's 3.55 non-limited slip so all I need is gear oil. I want recommendations on brand. I'm between Valvoline, Mobil1, and Lucas. Thoughts? (they're all about the same price so it doesn't matter to me, just want to know what you guys think is the best brand and what will last the longest/perform the best). Thanks!

That's what I was thinking, I know a lot of people on here use it. Just wanted to see if anyone used Lucas because I like their products too.

Alright, I'll probably use Mobil 1 then. I like and trust that brand too.

I've heard good things about Royal Purple.

I've never changed mine. Ever. I should probably do that. Joe, do you know how much the 8.8 takes?

I also have the same question Joe. Also, how can I tell what the size of my differential is, google is not being friendly lol. Only thing I can find is that if the cover has 10 bolts it's the 8.8" and if it has 12 then it's the 9.75". Is that correct because my cover has 10 bolts. My axle code only tells me the ratio not the size, but if it helps it's axle code 19 for the 3.55 N-LS. I want to be sure so I can buy the right amount of gear oil.

That's all my local O'Reilly's store has, along with some other brands I've never heard of. Thats why I was asking opinions of the major brands so I can have them shipped to the store. But if Royal Purple is good...

Royal purple is pretty good. Never used or have anyone that has used the gear oil. But there syn oil is great. U def have the 8.8 with 3.55's. plus that's the rear they pit with the 4.6.

    ----------

But your bolt strategy is correct
