I was talkin to a buddy of mine the other day about plug n play mods. Initially he got about 13-18 (on a good day) and used the plug n play and got around 20-22 out of his 5.4L. Just another thought to help, but start with the tune up first that should help alot

I was actually looking into those. I'm not sure if it's what I'm gonna do, but I'm considering it

plug and play what? programmers? there is NO WAY IN HELL a programmer will bump you up 7mpg city. at the most you will see a 1mpg, MAYBE 2 mpg increase. I have a programmer, electric fans, air intake, lightweight driveshaft, P&Ped intake, and UDPs. all of those together netted me about 3mpg, on a good day.

you guys need to realize the #1 thing that hampers fuel consumption is air resistance. the second most important is weight. you can mod your engines all day long but unless you lower your truck (less parasitic drag) or chop that frame or something, you are not going to see any major differences.

and im calling BS on 22mpg out of a 5.4L. I used to get 19/21 before this E10 crap, and that was driving like a grandma in flat Florida. Now with E10 im getting 17/19

Again that's just what I was told, I don't have a programmer so I don't know what it would do, but your knowledge sounds more reasonable than the info I got.

dont expect to get any phenominal numbers. just your average EPA rated numbers for 14/18 for a 4x4 5.4L. anyone saying they are getting 20+ in a 4x4 5.4L needs to learn basic math.

Well professor. I can add basic math. Passed it got a 65. ( in my Chris rock voice). Lol. I get 18-20 in my fx4. Lots of tweaking. But it runs well. Around town I get about 14-15 but highway is nice

    I'm still lmao.
