Using premium over regular won't do anything for power or mileage, the only difference is the octane rating, i.e. how fast/completely it combusts. All it will do is cost you more to drive. For $3.50 a gallon, that's not bad, makes me want to move to Canada from California where gas is still around $4.50 a gallon. All you can really do is drive with a lighter foot.

Ryan, while you may be correct 99% of the time with any other engine, the EcoBoost is different. Ford recommends using 93 octane when towing or hunting for power. The knock sensors in the EcoBoost will advance the timing in the engine and there is a discernible difference in the power output when using 93 versus 87 octane gasoline. This is only true for the EcoBoost, though.

I was unaware of that fact, never had an EcoBoost and don't know anyone personally that does lol. That's interesting that it does that, smart design.

Mine also does a little better on fuel with premium compared to regular. It's actually cheaper to use premium even tho its $.020 more expensive. The other thing I've learned about the EB is it loves to drink anything with ethanol in it. I lose 2-3 mpg if I use a 10% ethanol 89.

I agree I'm was getting 1mpg better then with mid grade . So my truck may never see regular gas . That extra mpg makes it worth putting in premium fuel . Get over 200 km or roughly 130ish miles more a tank . Ford says you average 14 L/100 km in city but I was doing well below that with premium fuel . While Using med grade I'm averaging 16L/100 in city .

    ----------

Now should I throw some extra weight or tow something to break in engine . I know you should for a diesel . Because diesels engines are all about pressure . My buddy getting the same mileage with his 90 L tank as I get with my 120L tank but his is broken in .
