    New tire PSI

    Hi All,

I just purchased a 2012 F150 Platinum. The previous owner just installed new Nexen Roadian At Pro’s. They look great. My question is, the size of the new tires are 305/55R20, which is larger than the OEM tires.

Does anyone know what PSI I should put? Should I go by the Ford’s spec on the door? Also, is there a way to have the speedometer corrected?

    Thank you

The door sticker lists PSI for the stock tires. Your psi can be found on sidewall of the tire. Unless you have a programmer that lets you recalibrate for tire size, you'll need to go to the dealer to have it done .

While correct that the sidewall shows the Max PSI for the tire according to the manufacturer, it doesn't mean it's the best PSI for the specific vehicle it is being used on. To me the best way is to pull your truck through a wet area in your driveway and look at the tire markings. Over inflated the mark will show the center tread of the tire. You want to look for an even pattern across the tread width.

    Thanks all,

I emailed the tire manufacturer for their recommendation and have not heard back yet. The max psi on the side wall is 80 psi. I was thinking about 40. Great idea with the wet tire, I will try it. Thanks
