Ok I don't much care for a pit bull but that's just me. But banning a dog is like banning a gun it's stupid cause they are only bad in the hands of the wrong people.

While that is true your analogy is flawed.
A gun can't get up on its own and shoot someone. Where as a dog can get loose and/or be running around and bite a person on its own. Some dogs just have the chariteristics and drive to be aggressive if not raised (i.e. socialization/socialized) correctly, this is one of those breeds. Unfortunately as goes with a lot of breeds, popularity having a status symbol raises demand. And demand causes mass breeding and inbreeding for unscrupulous people to turn a quick buck. This compounds issues with certain types of dogs and brings inherent traits to the forefront.

When we adopted Lola, it was because we went to an event and she happened to be there. sitting as quietly and calmly as could be next to the shelter lady. Every other dog there up for adoption was barking at everyone passing by and barking just for the hell of it. Lola wasn't. my girlfriend notices things before me, & I wasn't there to adopt a dog anyway. but my girlfriend knew that if we were to get another dog it would have to be a big dog for me. so she pointed out Lola, and we went over to pet her and she was the sweetest thing ever. we took her for a short walk, through all the craziness that was that event, she didn't make one sound and all she wanted to do was go back to her "mama".
I realized right then and there what a great dog she was going to be, scratch that, already was.
We did have one issue right off the bat. One of our little ones went to sneak Lola's bone from her bed just two or three days after getting her. Lola defended her bone but she did not bite or attack the little one she push him aside and gave him a little cut above his eye. I was so freaking mad, I actually told my girlfriend we were taking her back. but I thought about it and realized exactly what had happened and where responsibility lied. We have never had another such issue, and I doubt we ever will. I watch that dog like a hawk, all the time. we don't allow her to be in situations where she could get upset and possibly hurt someone or something. She does have her dog friends that we go meet at the park or take on walks together. she absolutely adores my brothers dog and wrestles the crap out of him.
So basically what I'm saying is, I'm not defending every pitbull or pitbull owner out there. but there are way way way more pitbull mixes out there that are happy productive dogs then there are bad ones. also what the media will not report is the breeds of other dogs that bite. if its a pitbull, of course its gets mentioned as savage. But if its any other breed, good luck finding out which one because they won't report it.

It's cool FX4, my wife and I in the past breed/showed Rottweilers' so I fully understand the media/public stigma that can go along with certain breeds. Good for you and the girlfriend for adoption. That is what we did with the dog we now have, mixed breeds also have less health issues so it seems. Didn't have any pets for about 12 years after we lost our last Rottie, than the kids convined us they need a dog so we adopted Baron a Boxer/Mastiff mix, gentlest dog.

Grabber.....Your Boxer is cute as Hell. Although, mixed breeds can be just as much of a crap shoot as any other. Purebreds of all types are known to have some issues due to the fact that they don't get bred-out. Mixed can either help eliminate the unwanted traits, or compound them. It just depends. Either way, it looks like you got the good side of a mix, and you Boxer/Mastiff is a looker.

As for Pitts and other aggressive breeds.....I'd like to see licensing and insuring. If every owner had to be licensed to have an aggresive breed (Pitts, Sheperds,Rotts, Dobermans, Chows, ect), and had to be insured on them as well, we'd see a lot fewer incidents. It's almost always the sh**bag owners at fault, so making owners take the extra steps will weed-out some folks that would be better off raising fish. Pitbulls get the bad rep because there are soooo many of them now, and many of the people who own them, do so for all of the wrong reasons (look cool....tough....gangsta). Just about any dog can be good or bad, but without proper training and care, some can be worse than others.

Either way.....I'm thinking about a GoldenDoodle. All the smarts of a Poodle with the temperment of a Golden Retriever.....and no shedding. I just have to wait for kitty to kick the bucket, as I'm pretty sure a puppy would be the death of her. Kitty don't suffer fools (or dogs), and gets all worked up. I think a pup would pop her heart. Or she would kill the puppy (or try to anyway). When my kitty looks in the mirror, she sees a lion. She was bred to kill cobras, so I guess it also gives her an attitude. She's an Abysinian......dangerous cat breed.lol.
