IMO , no one should ever pay a dealer to have this done . Prices I've seen online range from around 8 to 12 hundred . And anyone with basic knowledge can handle this in two hours max. What a rip off! They probably use the DIY method anyway and are done in half an hour, hitting us with dash removal labor when not needed ! Even if they were to spend 4 to 5 hours on the job by removing the dash , I call BS on ford for not making this right with a customer satisfaction recall for putting in a cheap piece of crap that's known to fail now for years . From searching , I've found this is an extremely common problem . A trained tech like makuloco ( you tube tech and vid of his I used) could be done with the diy method in 15 or 20 min max .
