    Tapatalk Forum App, Explained

I use Tapatalk exclusively for Forum surfing. It stores all of the forums you are on, and it makes it easy to switch back and forth between forums in a split second. Perfect for post whores like me 😎
You also will not need to enter your password every time you get on a different forum.

So I will be taking a few screenshots and posting here, with a little bit of explanation on how to use it

Okay so after you download the app to your phone, you need to choose a username and password. Once that is done I'm pretty sure it goes to a search page that looks similar to this

So search for the forums that you use, and see if they are on Tapatalk. If you see something that interests you, you can click on the link to go visit and check it out. Or if you find one you want to follow or join, just simply touch the blue + symbol that says follow. You can even register with forums through Tapatalk. If you follow a forum that you are already a member of, it will ask you to join or sign in. Simply sign in with your *Forum* name and password (not your tapatalk ID).

I think with the latest updates, Tapatalk lets you subscribe to threads on forums of which you aren't even a member. That is pretty handy

Once you have picked your forums, you can press this button to arrange the forums as you wish, or unfollow them.

Once you open a forum, at the top of the screen to the far left the square box that is highlighted is your feed

When you make a post in forum subsection, it asks you if you want to add that discussion to your feed. It's a simple way to scroll through everything you are interested in on different forums that you want to watch, or are subscribed to. I personally do not use the feed page.

The second menu is a list of the forums you are following, to quickly access them.

The third menu item at the top of the page is a list of your private messages. Messages from every forum you follow appear here, for easy quick access. I edited this photo, it shows the subject line, and the first few lines of the message.

The next menu item shows your notifications. As you can tell I never really check my notifications, I surf the forums so often that I usually catch everything I'm interested in. If you touch the check mark at the top of the screen, it clears the notifications. They are still visible, but it doesn't keep trying to tell you that you have 97 unread notifications.

All clear, but still there to access anytime.

The last menu item is your profile page for your Tapatalk account. You can click on your profile picture to change it. You can click to see who is following you, and who you are following. You can also check your history and posts.

Click this button for settings in the Tapatalk app. You can adjust the way the app behaves and shows you things, or doesn't show you things you don't want to see.

Most of that stuff should be self-explanatory. I have my public profile set to off, so the people following me, or the people that find me on any given forum can not see what else I am up to. I also prefer the dark (night reading) mode, the background is black instead of white. It is easier on my eyes, plus it uses a lot less battery power.

If you have any questions Drew about settings, let me know

Okay so once you have joined, or signed into your forum, the home page looks similar to this

Home I think shows you fairly active threads, like "trending" threads.

The Forums page lets you browse through the subforums

Timeline is the page I use almost exclusively. It puts the thread most recently posted in at the top. Basically this is a list of the most active threads.

Pressing this button brings up settings for that thread

Subscribed and Participated menus are self-explanatory. They also list the threads in order based on the most recent post. Easy way to keep up with threads you are subscribed to or have posted in, you don't have to search or browse through the sub-forum menu to find it.

This is for settings in the Forum itself

Here you can customize which menus are available when you click the Forum you wish the browse

This button lets you quickly start a new thread, search, or send a private message.

Okay so once you click on the threads you wish to participate in, there is a quick reply box. Simply tap it to bring up the keyboard.

Pressing this button brings up an advanced menu from which you can post pictures or videos, emojis, add a picture as an attachment, add image [IMG] or url [URL] codes, or mute or unmute the thread you are viewing

The camera icon lets you take a picture or record a video and post it directly without ever leaving Tapatalk. Most of the time I take a picture with my normal camera on my phone and then choose the square box next to the camera icon. This takes you to picture gallery in your phone and you simply touch the photo you want to upload. A couple of reasons why I choose to do it this way, the main reason being that pictures taken through the Tapatalk app sometimes post sideways or upside down.

I never use the paper clip to add an attachment. It used to resize the image, taking away the clarity and posting a very blurry image. I assume it still does. But if you use the paperclip to add an attachment, non-registered users will not be able to view the picture you have uploaded.

Tap the bell icon to mute or unmute the thread you are viewing.

Press the paper airplane icon to send your message when you are done.

While viewing the thread, push this button to bring up settings menu for that thread.

Click this to unsubscribe or subscribe to the thread you are viewing.

All yall better be subscribed to that thread LOL

The arrow in the red circle lets you quote that post if you click on it.

The icon inside of the green circle let you follow that person Tapatalk if you click on it.

Simply tapping a post will highlight it (notice the lighter gray). Tapping this brings up menu for that post

If you tap on your own post, the pencil icon lets you edit your post.

The arrow icon will quote the post and bring up the keyboard so you can type a response.

When quoting someone, pressing this button will let you edit their post. Say they posted a novel, but you only want to reply to a few sentences. Make sure that you don't edit out their screen name and the quote HTML... if you do, it will not quote properly

    Haha thanks Coop

I like it because a lot of the forums I visit don't have their website setup very well for mobile. And this app makes every Forum behave exactly the same so you aren't struggling to remember where buttons are on a forum. Plus I really do post a lot and have joined a bunch of forums, I can switch back and forth between forums at the drop of a hat, so it's easy to keep up with Lively conversations
