    1st Ford in 40 yrs

I'm retired. My dad always drove a Ford truck, but me, not so. Recently, I purchased a 2018 Ford F-150 with the 3.5 ecoboost. The last time I bought a Ford it was a 1975 Ford Fairmont. I drove it for 100,000 miles, sold it to my brother-in-law, who put an additional 100,000 miles on it. After that, it was a mix of GM and Chrysler products. I didn't have anything against Ford, it just turned out that way. Currently, we decided to have only one vehicle to serve all of our needs. We own a camper (7000 GVW), so we felt a truck was necessary-since we occasionally camp. Previously for camping we owned a Chevy 3500 Duramax. We spend our camping travels in the Rockies. The Chevy had the crew cab and a 6.5 ft bed. One has to own it and drive it for a year to fully appreciate how big that truck is. For our needs as a daily driver, it was too big, so now the F150 is parked in our garage. Compared to the Duramax the towing capacity is smaller and certainly the cargo capacity is more so. While towing, we'll have to pay careful attention to our cargo capacity, and have to take it easy in the mountains. That said, we feel this was the perfect compromise for our automotive needs. Prior to the F150 purchase I drove a F250 power stroke. Wow, what a truck! It was just too large for us to own as a daily driver.

Well welcome both to the Forum, and back to owning a Ford. I've owned Ford's now since 1986. I've had pretty good luck with the 6 I've owned. I jokingly tell people the thing I've loved about Ford's, is they always get you home, sometimes limping, but always make it to the driveway. I too would like the same vehicle as you, but mine with the 5.0 liter motor. You might want to have the catch can add on to your engine. It's a filter of sorts that traps the crud that the turbos produce. You can have a dealer or shop install, or if your mechanical do yourself. It lengthens engine life.
