Let me start over again

I have always leaned toward Chevy trucks but have had body issues with all of them. Seems Chevy has the "rust through" warranty figured out exactly in their favor. My first Chevy truck was an S10 that I ordered thru a dealer and spec'd out everything I wanted. I planned on having this truck for 10 to 15 years. The truck was beautiful and I washed it and waxed it regularly. After about 5 years I started noticing "mosquito bites" in various places on the body and went to a Chevy body shop for explanation. They said they had never seen this and did not know what it was and offered no follow-up. Looking back this was a total lie and part of the coverup. I later popped a few of these bumps and liquid spilled out showing corrosion underneath but no "rust through" of the metal. After the 6 year end of rust protection, things went downhill in a hurry and by 7 years I had holes in the rear cab corners that you could put your fist through. I loved the truck but washing and waxing was difficult and worthless and I realized that 10-15 yrs was out of the question unless I wanted to own a rust bucket. I sold the truck. Since I had gotten used to the convenience of a pickup I then sought out a replacement S10 thru a different dealer and picked up a 3 yr old model which I had for another 3 yrs before I traded it on a used Silverado. I kept that Silverado till it was about 7 yrs old and showing beginnings of rust issues. I was paranoid at this point about Chevy trucks. I went back to cars for a few years and then SUV's but nothing filled my need for a truck. Finally my wife and I went truck shopping and we looked at several trucks at two of the largest dealerships in our area. New was out of the question so we figured about 3 yrs old $30K with low mileage would meet our needs. These large dealerships had nothing that fit our bill although we could have bought a current yr Ram with almost no options for that price range. We were on our way home and drove by a little car lot fairly close to our home. We stopped in and gave the salesperson our shopping list of options. He brought us to a 2014 F150 FX4 OFF ROAD Supercrew cab with extended box and more options than a couple of Cadillacs I had owned. EVERYTHING about this Ford is what we wanted - and then some. It stickered out new at just under $60K and it came out of Canada and we are in central New York. The truck had been undercoated when new and we fell in love and bought it. We've had it 7 months now and still love it. We get about 18mpg in warmer months and almost 16 thru the winter months. We want to enjoy this truck for many years but my mind flashes back to my Chevys that got skin cancer at 6-7 yrs of age. I am hoping that this truck will not be a similar case. I know paint, metal and road salt do not make for good neighbors so do I need to think of my next truck before I celebrate its 7th anniversary?

This Ford has more than met our expectations and far outdoes my Chevys from the past. I look foreward to a long relationship and hope I am not in for a rude awakening.

Research 2015 F150 trucks up. They have extensive use of aluminum in the body. No rust and lighter in weight. 60K sticker in Canada is 50K sticker in the US
