    FNG from California

Hey folks, just introducing myself. Bought a 05 F150 for my daughter and I wanted to educate myself about the issues with these trucks. I lurked for a bit but it looks like there are some very educated members here.

Hopefully I don't need too much help.

    Welcome! Pics of said daughter?

Also, what engine? 05s had a few problems with the 5.4Ls IIRC

Welcome FNG, I had an 05, it was a good solid truck, but was a pig on fuel and had no bottom end torque at all. No burn outs lol

Thanks for the welcome, Ill skip over the photo request for now.

It's got a 5.4 with about 100k. The plugs and boots have been replaced and it makes some racket at idle. I got it for cheap enough that if the crank fell on the ground in the morning when she started it and I had to put a new bullet in it I'd be money ahead.

That's smart! Raptor isn't as funny as I am, but can keep up on mechanics. I keep him around to play Robin while I am Batman...LMAO

Welcome to the forum and they were good trucks. Luckily the plugs and COP's have already been changed because they were a major problem on the 5.4's pre-2008. The racket you mentioned may be the cam phasers. Post up some pics of your truck! Excuse the Professor on his request to see said daughter lol.

Hey I was just saying what everyone was thinking lol!

Sounds like a great truck, even if you are ahead. General overhaul of most little stuff would be good. Check tires, brake pads, change oil and filter, fuel filter, some Techron in the fuel tank and transmission flush would not be a bad idea. Coolant flush is recommended at 100k IIRC as well. Rear diff fluid if you want to be picky.
