    Automatic lights not working

I have a 2005 f150 and headlights quit working , I have replaced the headlight switch but the lights no longer come on automatically at night since that issue , they have to be manually turned on , I've talked to 2 seperate ford dealers and get same run around it could be many things , bla bla Wanting to charge diagnostic fee etc ,
I'm wondering if this is a common thing ?

Hey bud. Welcome to the forum. I'm not sure if the two meaning the new switch u installed and the truck need to be remarried or maybe there is just another problem. I have never had this problem nor have I ever encountered it. However. My advice would b to entertain the idea of going to the dealer and finding the prob. Is it a nice feature? Of course. Can u live without it? Depends on what they find. They will charge u a flat rate to diagnose the prob. Could b the wrong switch. Who knows. Good luck. Let us know how u make out

Just fed up being screwed by dealers , my window regulator cable broke in drivers window, I'd never tackled anything w electric windows so I asked them for estimate they told me $1100 , I though that was unrealistic and walked out did it myself after watching a video took me about 45 min , part was 100 , so I'm thinking skilled ford mechanic ? 20 min tops ! The dealer in my hometown quoted me a $350 base diagnostic fee for the light situation , I'm thinking there is some type of photocell that turns them on and they know exactly what's going on

Oh I hear ya bud. Ford and I have had our words over silly things. That's for sure. I'd b lying if I untold u I knew where that eye was. I'm sure some research and u can find it. Or you could get a Haynes manual. I'm sure it can tell u where it's at. OR. Not trying to insult at all. But r u sure it's the correct switch? That allows that feature? I only say it cause I've seen it.
Again. I've never had the prob. Maybe somebody with your gen truck can take u further than myself.
