    Water in engine?

Any of you guys ever hear of water getting into the engine a common problem with the 5.4?
A guy I work with had an 04 f150 and the engine was knocking it had 99,000. He took it to a garage and they told him it had water in the engine and it was a common problem?. They put a heavier weight of oil in it an he just decided to trade it off instead of fix. I've never heard this?

Never heard that. Water is not combustable and is not friendly. Lol.

He said there was yellow sludge every time he would change the oil. I'm assuming it was lack of maintenance

That's not water leaking into the engine, it's just condensation from the air in with the oil. If you don't drive long enough to get the truck fully warmed up, like short trips all the time, then yes that would be common.
