Removing back glass on 04 supercrew

I have a leak that is around my rear glass that is causing my door sills to fill with water and soaking my passenger front floor. Has anyone removed their rear glass and changed the butyl tape? Do you have to pull the headliner?

I’ve done it more than I care to admit (auto glass tech by trade). First question is have you checked the third brake light? That’s extremely rare in a ford but a quick check to possibly save some unnecessary work “. You don’t need to remove the headliner, just a few clips and maybe grab handles. The idea is to get access to the 9mm nuts. A small ratchet wrench is handy. You’re biggest chore is the rear seat. You might not have to remove it if it’s not a power slider, but it’s one of those things where experience and tools on hand come into play. You don’t need to unbolt the whole seat, there is a difficult to reach and describe release latch that allows the back rest to come off. O4 through 08 is different from 09+ with the seat, otherwise it’s the same principle with the glass portion. 15+ if a whole different animal so ignore any info on those. About $200 is what we’ve charged in a competitive city market so possibly more if you live in a remote area. ( admin, I’m not soliciting just giving a cost idea if the op decided to not tackle themselves)

If you want I’m willing to help along the way, just keep in mind that if you do need to remove the seat I can barely describe it to another glass tech so that part would be difficult. A few pointers though. 1. Use foam core butyl (8mm) 2. do not tighten nuts with any battery or air power tools. Hand tighten in a cross pattern similar to lug nuts, snug is all you need. If a leak persists don’t worry the butyl may have been a little cool then got warm and softened. A simple re tighten is needed not a complete removal again.

Thanks so much for the info. I have already changed the third brake light as well as added silicone around it. My seat back just lifts off the wall as I have audio amps mounted behind it so that only takes 2 minutes to get off. I'm assuming seatbelts and pillar panels come off after the seat. I will pick up some butyl tape and potentially tackle this later in the week.

Oh, yeah cake job if you already know the seat. Let me see if I come across a similar truck in the next few days. Mine is 2011 so similar but I want to be accurate as possible.

Got it all taken care of today. Wasn't bad at all. Took maybe an hour or so. Ran the water hose around the window after. Can't see water filling the wire channel any more. It's supposed to rain the next few days so I will see then. Thanks for the tips! Hardest part for me was the nuts around the headliner.
