97 expedition, water leaking from passenger's side.

I have a 97 expedition with the 5.4. About a week ago I noticed a coolant smell through the vents. A few days later I noticed I had a leak, its wet under the passenger side. I got under the truck and the only thing I can see that is wet is the firewall. Now in the area that is wet there are 2 pipes or maybe hoses stubed about a 1/2" to 3/4" out. The top 1 is dry the bottom 1 is wet. It doesn't look like anything goes on or hooks to them, I'm thinking maybe there drain lines of some kind. But I do have a leak and I do have to put more coolant in, I've noticed it even leaks when the truck is off. I've done a lil research and have seen a few people that have had problems but nothin quite like my problem. Thanks John

From what you are describing it sounds like the heater core is leaking. The box that it sits in has vent hoses to drain any leaking coolant to the outside so it won't ruin your carpet. That is what you are seeing drain from the tubes.
