If you are wanting a m/t tire I would recommend the Nitto trail grapplers. They are awesome tires and do great in all conditions.

For an AT I highly suggest Firestone Destination AT's. I have a set on my Lariat and they are amazing tires all around. I would actually say they are the best tires Ive ever owned.

Firestone destinations for all around performance or you could be a moron like me and be dumb and get some Mickey Thompson M/T baja claws they are great in the mud but are to loud on the road and kill fuel economy are to expensive and wear to damn fast

Toyo Open countrys are good, The Mickey Thompson ATZs are good(running a set on my 08, about 70% left at 45,000km)

If you dont care about road noise try the Mickey Thompson MTZs.

And yes running Baja claws on a daily driver is stupid. So is running Swamper Boggers. These are purpose built tires that won't only drain your wallet from wearing out fast, they also like to wear out bearings and such due to vibrations given off at higher speeds. Especially on pavement.

I ended up getting the Kelly tires. They are great so far noise is minimal on the highway and they do pretty good in the mud. Havent noticed much of a drop in mpg either.
