What year(s) would you guys recommend for older trucks

Hey, guys! I have recently decided that I would like to purchase an older truck. I would like to get a truck that would allow me to learn how to a lot repairs on my own, but at the same time would be reliable not perpetually needing to be fixed.

My question is what year and engine would you guys recommend? I'm looking for the most reliable year as well as easy to work on for a beginner.

Thanks everyone, your answers are much appreciated! JB

I have a 1965 F100 that was my dads that he bought new shortly after I joined the US military. In 1996 after his passing I inherited the truck and began to restore it myself (first time). The first picture in the group is what the truck looked like when I started with it. It had 275,000 miles on it when I inherited it.

This truck was very easy to work on myself. The year model you chose will mostly depend on how much money you want to spend and how popular the year model truck you decide on. You would also need to do some research on how readily available parts are and cost.

You dropped a new engine in it? That truck looks amazing! Well done!
