    Cruise stopped working

1997 F-150 sc: Long story - over the winter $(@*$^!(#*& squirrels got into the engine compartment. First I know about it - "Check Engine" EVAP problem. Local garage fixed it for $300. One month later "Check Engine" - again. So warmer weather this week, under the hood and "HSBM", the connector to the EVAP valve is chewed clear off. So I've got that fixed(???) well jury rigged. Then I started looking around. Ended up popping the fuse box (bungied to the hood), the relay box and the whatever and un-bundling the wiring as it does a 90 in the corner of the compartment. I had to cut it open to get the the other 3 chewed throughed wired - and spliced.

Kill squirrel, kill squirrel, kill squirrel, kill..... Anyhow now on to what happened next - my cruise control stopped working and I can't figure out what the problem is. First thing, my Haynes manual says: Fuse 13 (there is no 13, it's blank) to brake pedal pos sw. NO, to clutch switch NC to servo. I have a problem in that I expect the brake to be NC to clutch to servo. Tap the brake, or the clutch and cruise killed. But under normal state no 12v to servo, tap brake, 12v. Depress clutch - nothing, tap brake no voltage to servo. I searched the web and I can't find any debug instructions ie. check A then check B then jump x and y. I've doubled checked the wiring bundle and don't find any more chewed wires.

    allllllllllllllllllp

    Thanks

    SOLVED

After a great deal of disassemble I (problem, I'm 73 yo 6'1" 200# and crawling under the dash...R-No-Fun) and surf'n the web I found
1997 ford f150 horn wiring diagram - Google Search

which matches my steering column - I ohmed it and everything was there. Then (why I didn't do this in reverse...) checked for 12V into the 6 pin connector from the Horn Relay. - Nothing. I ended up cutting open the bundle from the Relay to 3/4 of the way to the firewall and using a signal tracer I have pulled out the 'Lt Blue', relay coil passthru down the bundle, and farther and traced it to one of the three 2"x2" Firewall connectors. I had to disconnect all three to get the middle bundle out where I could - OH,@!#&&&&@$!@#!!! squirrels. only 1 wire chewed in two. Easy crimp splice, some tape. Then I got smart and put a 10mm on the end of a 24" flex attached to my cordless drill. Zip, zip, zip. Hit the horn, nothing. hmmm Oh ya, the 6 pin under the dash - reconnect - still no horn. Oh ya, the 10 pin on the cruise. Beep, beep, beep beep'da beep beep beep - cruise also works. - Treated myself to the hot tub and some icecream. Tomorrow, start putting the dash back together - will check for burned out bulb while I'm at it.
