Attached are some photos of the alarm system I removed from my 2000 F150 I recently bought. One of the components is clearly a Ford part, the others I don't know. The big black unit says "Ford Security System". The small black one says "Sensor" and "SAE PP-T20" and has a small white adjusting know on the side. The blue one says "KARR Security Systems" and has a red adjusting screw on it. Can anyone tell me anything about this? Is it all one system or more than one? Is it a reliable system? Is it a motion-detecting system, or based on electrical usage, or??? Is there any way to test this to see if it works? How was it turned on when it was installed? Any info on it would be appreciated.
The KARR system is aftermarket, hence the electrical tape on its wires where somebody likely spliced it in. The rest is the Ford factory system. The small sensor that says SAE goes along with the Ford system. SAE stands for Society of Automotive Engineers. It just means the part meets their standards as they govern the manufacturing of every vehicle of every brand. Idk how the KARR system works but the factory one is not motion activated.
