I it worth it to keep it

Alright gents, been a while since I have been on here. So hello again.

I still have my 2004 F150 but it is getting to the point that with the engine I am wondering if it is worth it to keep it and wait for the boom to possibly go off or if I should get rid of it.

What are your guys thoughts. I have the 5.4 Triton that has the cam phaser tick. Has not given me trouble yet but am worried about when it will.

The older I get the more I realize it is worthless to worry about tomorrow when you are living today. Love your family and friends, live like there is no tomorrow.

I assume you have it paid off.

If you can sell it for a great price, I'd consider it. Depending on how much you can get for it and how much a replacement vehicle would cost. No payments is nice, and most repairs are cheaper than buying another vehicle.

Do you know how to do mechanical work? I wouldn't be afraid of anything myself.

A new/different vehicle is always nice, but payments suck. My vote is if you can perform the work yourself to save money, I would keep it. You will be better off in the long run. You already know what you have. Switch vehicles and who knows what kind of issues you will have with that one

It's not paid off just yet but it is low enough I could sell it for a decent amount and have a good down payment.

As far as the mechanics go I can do anything, that is not the problem. Just not sure I want to deal with the BS that the 04-07 5.4 engines have.

Holy **** it's Joe In all honesty i would get rid of the thing while it still runs. I'd look for a 5.0 if you can afford one. And just get rid of the 5.4 crap

This is what I am thinking. Either a 5.0 or be a traitor with a GMC 1500

I can't fault you with either choice. The general makes good trucks

Hmm.. I'd change the oil to 10w-30 and then sell it. It might hide the tick.
