What is the cheapest cold air intake for a 2001 f150 4.6 that will not give me a check engine light?

None of them should if they're meant for that motor. Can't cobble together some cheap junk and expect it to work right, but several brands are good.

your truck comes with a cold air intake. All cars do. I have a K&N drop in filter ( oiled reusable ) just don't over oil it. Well it's already oiled from the factory so just drop it in. But others make un oiled ones if you like that better

CAI's ? IMO .....worthless without a custom tune and not a fan of the oiled filters either. Stock paper filters are best bang for your buck and filter more dust and dirt than k and n. OP, what are you hoping to gain or accomplish with your truck.

You'd be better served by a programmer and custom tunes. No cai is going to give you more hp to make any difference without custom tunes.

^^^. Even then joe , I don't know what gains are possible with his 4.6. I've never had a 4.6, or know anyone personally that tuned one. I'm very far from an expert on the matter , but I don't think its worth it. Maybe some guys with more knowledge can chime in ?

CAI isnt going to do anything except lighten your wallet. just be happy with what you have. I've dropped thousands into my truck (efans, CAI, customer programmer) and I'm only like 15 hp over stock, it isnt worth it lol
