    Air compressor

I want to run a small air compressor off my 2011 ecoboost. Just 120v, 120psi, 1 gallon air tank. I have a 110v plug in my back seat that would be good enough I'm sure, but I want it outside the truck. Am I better off to just buy an inverter or tie into that plug in? Someone tried telling me there's a 110v plug under the carpet in the back by the tire jack but Ive never heard that before. It's for a new horn I purchased.

Your best bet is to buy an inverter. If you tap into that plug you are putting a live constant drain on the system. With an inverter you assure that you don't need to up the output of the stock alternator and it will put less wear on your stock components.

The thing about that particular plug is that it comes on with the key and does not stay on for more than 5 minutes after it's removed or the door is opened.
