No I was wondering if those are worth it. I want brighter headlights without retro-fitting anything. Just bulbs, and I guess taillight bulbs too. I found some Hella aftermarket combo Fog/Driving lights 55W H3 bulbs on Autoanything.com for $65, it's street legal, and in some YouTube videos (from owners, not Hella), they look pretty bright. I was thinking of adding them too because I want some kind of aftermarket lighting up front since I don't have the factory fog lights. Any thoughts on that?

Well its a tradeoff. The three I listed have more luminous output, so they are about 10-15% brighter, but at the expense of life span. Sylvania guarantees the life of the Ultras for a year. I've had some last longer, I've had some die sooner. Technically, the halogen life cycle becomes inefficient after about a year anyway. When I had halogen bulbs, I replaced them every year or so.

Aftermarket lights generally have a piss-poor reflective pattern. Usually they will put a little hotspot somewhere on the road. I would look into LED light bars if you want high-beam (no traffic) performance.

Really? S*** whatever brand the previous owner put in my truck still works after 2 and 1/2 years of me owning it and doing quite a bit of nighttime driving. But they aren't as bright as I'd like, especially when I'm in pitch black dark. So I guess it's a trade off I'd have to take. Which brand would you recommend the most? And the videos made them seem pretty good, like I said they were owner videos not Hella's marketing schemes. And I just want something to add extra light in front of me for 20-30 yards. I want something street legal here in Californistan, and that isn't blinding other drivers so I get shot lol. Just something to complement my headlights and give me more brightness that doesn't break the bank.

I'd probably get some H13 Philips XtremePowers. If you don't already have OEM fogs, those would fill in the gap pretty good, especially if you've got an 04-05 with the rectangular fogs, you can throw some 9005s in there

Awesome, I'll go and find some after my first paycheck. And no OEM fog lights, just the base model XLT with headlights only, that's why I was thinking about the Hella combo lights I was talking about.

Hey Alex, what are your thoughts on CREE H13 32K LED headlights? I just ordered a complete conversion kit for my wife's Expedition from HID Canada in Chilliwack, BC. They say the CREE LED bulbs are American made and last much longer than the cheap Taiwan-made bulbs most kits come with. Cost was $230 CDN + tax & shipping, supposed to be here Friday.

Those aren't really LED headlights. Those are stock halogen reflectors with some LEDs on the bottom for aesthetics.
