    5.4L question..f150

Hey everyone not new to fords I have a full built 08 mustang GT that I love and recently just got an 06 f150 for the winter. Had the infamous phased knock. No codes no misfiring or stalling..well I replaced the phasers with OEM phasers from ford and it started up just fine. I go for a drive it gets to operating temp just fine I floor it on the highway and bring it to “red line” and it’s fine. I stop at a gas station keep it running go to put it in reverse and it dies. Took it home and it sputtered a few times but stalled almost every time I came to a stop. I unplugged the vct solenoids and drove around and it didn’t stall but the rpms still did go down but not as much. So, to those that have gone through this and I know many have, would you just replace the vct solenoids? It ran fine until it was fully warmed up. After I unplugged the solenoids I shut it off and turned it back on and went back and forth from park to drive multiple times and it only stalled once. Sometimes when going to drive the rpms never dropped but it started to drop again and stall runs fine though other than that. Thanks a bunch. .. 2006 5.4L has new plugs coils are fine, new oem phasers and that’s about it. Single owner truck.

Well, no replies just yet but I ended up replacing the vct solenoids and timing chain tensioners as well. It runs fine but I’m getting code p0345 and p0349. I’m almost certain it jumped a tooth on the driver side. I’ve disconnected the vct solenoids after clearing codes, and same code pops up. I moved the cam sensors around, same codes. It revs freely and idles great but I can’t seem to understand why I get those codes other than if it’s off a tooth or two. Is there any way I can re time just the driver side phaser without taking the timing cover off? (Ex putting piston 1 at TDC) and go from there? Thanks. I’m going to pull the cover off tomorrow if I don’t get a reply on this with any tips. I’m done for the night.

Wow, I guess this forum must be dead these days. Guess I’ll have to find another one. In case anyone is interested in answers if they’re having the same issue, I ended up replacing phasers , vct solenoids, timing chains, guides and tensioners (got all parts from ford) and a melling m340HV oil pump and everything is fine now
