    v-10 engine question

Our church bus is 2002 E350. It now has a top speed of 35 mph. I'm a Ford guy and this is wrong. Can somebody help me by telling me what I should check first?
    Thanks for your help.

First off welcome to the forum! Second, though, we need some more information. When you say it's top speed is now 35 you're talking you put the hammer down and it doesn't go or do anything and stops accelerating at 35 (as in the engine is still straining, RPM's go up, but not going any faster, or that if you hold the pedal down it let's off at 35 and Rpms even out)? Any loud noises or strange sounds? What's the current mileage and maintenance history? Any Check Engine Lights?

We had a v-10 motor home do the same thing a couple years ago while driving cross country. We originally thought that it was the transmission going bad . we limped it into the nearest ford dealer and It turned out that the catalytic converter had gone bad and clogged up.
A $1300 cat later we were back on the road.
