    Twin Sealed, or Single Ported?

So I put a new head unit in Ms. Pearl, and some bangin' new speaks to go with it. Now it's time to finish, and add the amp and sub(s?).

The deck: Alpine CDE-164BT CD receiver at Crutchfield.com
The speakers (front and rear doors....seperated up front, and coaxial in back): JL Audio C3-570 Evolution™ C3 Series 5"x7" convertible component speaker system at Crutchfield.com

So far, the deck and speakers are installed, and it's great.....but limp. I have the amp picked out, and am going with the JL 900/5 ( JL Audio HD Series HD900/5 5-channel car amplifier — 100 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms + 500 watts RMS x 1 at Crutchfield.com ). It's small, and will easily fit on the passenger side floor, under the back seat (where the jack is) with the single ported sub, or mounted to the back wall (behind the rear seat) with the sealed double setup.

I just don't know what will be "better" for what I listen to. Mostly, that would be hard rock/metal, classic rock, and some acoustic. Rarely does my system see much pop (but sometimes), and it NEVER sees any kind of hiphop. If you try to play dubstep or electronica in my truck, I will shove your glowsticks where the Sun doesn't shine.

I have it down to two contenders. A single 10" ported pre-fab from JL ( JL Audio Stealthbox Single® (Tan) Custom-fit ported fiberglass enclosure with 10" W3v3 subwoofer Fits 2004-up Ford F-150 SuperCab and SuperCrew trucks at Crutchfield.com ), or a two-place box from Fox ( FORD F-150 2-10" FOR 2004-UP SUPER CAB, 2004-08 SUPER CREW ) with a couple of JL 103w3-4 (or maybe 2 ohm?) ( http://www.crutchfield.com/p_13610W3...-4.html?tp=111 )

What do my fellow F-150 Screwdriving metalheads get your horns up ( \m/ ) with? Would you go with the two sealed, or one ported?

Twin sealed! Very cool dude. U went all out with great stuff. Jl is bad @$$. I think that will hit harder. Sound a little better for that double bass. Enjoy!

The twin sealed is the way I am leaning. The amp will have 500W @4ohms for the sub(s), so now to figure out if I want to go 2ohm or 4ohm drivers.

The shop that put my deck in called me and had me stop by last Friday. They had just put a stealthbox (10" ported JL) in a '07screw with the exact same amp I am looking at (JL 900/5).

It was AMAZING. Ridiculously amazing. A friend of mine has the Fox Box with 2 10's, and the single ported 10 pretty much blew his away. I'm getting one, but am on a mission to not pay full price ($800). The box is where the money is at since the speaker itself can be had new for ~$200. I'm in the process of scouring CL and Ebay for a used one, but if I can't find one in the next month or so, I'll cave and buy new. I have a couple of leads, but nothing being shipped......yet.

    Score.....

One is on it's way. Found it on Ebay, and paid half of what it was new. Now to save for the amp, and we'll be done.
