Its in your owners manual....

Trucks equipped with the 3.5L, 3.7L and 5.0L engines have an Intelligent Oil Life Monitor that will remind you to change the oil every 10,000 miles or 1 year, which ever comes first. The 6.2L is rated to 7,500 miles.

I change mine every 5K

And I suggest every women come to my house for free breast exams ;) Any dealer is going to look for a way to make money. I had a Toyota dealer tell my aunt she needed new pads, ASAP. She said no and bought some from VatoZone and brought it to me. I took her wheels off and she had like 60% pad life left. Boy did she have someone's arse on a silver platter. They will look to make money any possible way.

Alex u hit that on the head fer sure. They've tried that repeatedly with my wife. She went fer an oil change and came home with a 700$ bill. I was pissed. Like 200$ for fuel injection cleaning. Really?!?!?! I've takin to the dealer ever since. Haven't had any crazy fixes since then. But yeah. That's a crock how they scare women into Thinkin something is either wrong or unsafe

There is a big misconception on the three thousand mile oil change. In most cases 3k is way too soon to change oil for the average Joe . 3ks is the SEVERE srevice reccomendation schedule ,meaning taxi commercial and police vehicles and such. Most people and easily get away with 5K and still be waaaaaaay safe. Dealers oil change places want you as soon as they can get you back in their clutches .

To try to up sale you air filters fuel filters wiperblades tuneups and what ever else the can get you for . I've been in this business for 43 years 20 as a Ford tech . I see it all :)

Heck, our fire trucks get changed every 5K lol. Our ambulances are so busy they need an oil change every week. Do you know how much oil a 6.0L needs? LOTS.

Haha. I'll bet. I know how that is. My brother is a ford tech fer 15. He says the same thing. But I'm just anal with my vehicles. Just grown up that way. 3k u change ur oil. So hard habits die hard. Lol. But I'm hard on my toys. I've built them to do so. So I make sure I'm anal with servicing them. But to each there own. I have a freind who never changed his oil. Just ands it. And eventually trades em in. Makes me sick. So I fer sure know what u mean by seein it all. Lol.

Went back to the dealer last week for a dew warranty issues and had a chance to ask the service manager about the 3k change. He replied that louisiana temps and humidity warrent the 3k interval

----------

He also said it was ok to do it by the life monitorthat3k is just thier recomendation and not fords.

Eh. I consider 3,000 to be extreme. Joe, I think you're spot on, especially for that GT500. For a run-of-the-mill F-150, I would consider extreme oil use as like a delivery driver kinda thing, or a lot of idling.

My dealer in the Kansas City area says every 5K. I drive a lot of highway miles so that works for me. It depends on your motor, driving conditions and what you think is right.

Oil is cheap. I change it every 3,000 miles.

I switched to full synthetic like my Bimmer. It says on the BMW 1500, but I do at 7ish. I'll do the same for my truck.
