I'm not entirely sure about the 4.6L but I would assume they went to the same spark plugs they use in my 05 5.4L. Its got a 'new' sleeve on it that sits in the head. If they are anything like that, drench em with wd40 overnight and that should break up the carbon around that sleeve allowing them to come out without breaking.
