I got a 1994 F150 XL with the 4.9L I6 and an automatic transmission. Does anyone know the towing capacity of that model with a regular 2 inch ball hitch?

What are you trying to tow

The truck wont differentiate between what its towing, it only cares about weight.

OP, what gears do you have? These are the maximum trailer weights for a 4.9L I6, 2WD with automatic transmissions:

3.08- 4,700lbs
3.55-5,700lbs

Determining tongue weight, and axle weight are another concern if you plan on going anywhere near those limits.

My friend is moving and wants me to tow a trailer with some stuff in it. Thanks y'all.

Sadly, when I was typing these numbers, all I could think was "wow, my V6 sure is underpowered lol". Shes only rated to 3,500 but I'm sure on vacations I get her up to 4,000 sometimes. My camper has electric brakes and I'm like Johhny Law on the roads with it. Both hands for 500 miles at 55 mph sure does get old after a while

Lol me too. Got too many cool things to drive to screw it up. There's always a time and a place. And I'm also fortunate to have a race course within 25 miles and a dragstrip 3 miles away.

There is I difference between live loads and dead load like a trailer with livestock you want to try to stay under the load compass but a dead load like a camper you can push over the limit a bit

----------

And the weight you can pull depends on what kind of trailer you are using. gose necks and fifth wheels will let you pull more cus of weight place ment
