Idle between 300-500 its a 5.4 2004 can feel it sputtering the rpm needle is moving back and forth to 300-500 rpm please help
Does it run fine otherwise?

Ya seem to be but I can feel it sputtering no engine lights are on

THat idle seems a bit low, It should be idling around 550 or slightly higher. Are you getting any misfire codes or any other codes?

No I don't have any codes
I would start by checking/replacing the air filter and fuel filter. Probably give the MAF a good cleaning too

I'm trying to remember the config of the 5.4 and it's not 100% fresh in my mind, but it will be somewhere between the air filter and throttle body. There may be YouTube videos of people cleaning theirs.

Try your iac ( idel air control) it could be dirty

go to google (id do it but i dont know your year or motor) type in your year motor size and IAC and look at the images

I would start by checking/replacing the air filter and FUEL FILTER. Probably give the MAF a good cleaning too

The maf is held by two screws on the driver side of the filter housing spray it with maf cleaner don't touch it let it dry reinstall. Also try cleaning the throttle body. You need to take the filter assembly off to get it. I used crc brand tb cleaner and a soft toothbrush. Good luck

Mine idles hard to I have a edge cs programmer and it always you to adjust the idle rpm... No more sputtering
