I guess I'll be the first... What are other peoples mpg's? I'm getting around 20mpg. I average 110 miles per day of mostly 60MPH(cruise control on for most). I was told it gets alot better AFTER 3K miles when the engine is considered broken in, I sure hope so.

IMO for a full size heavy ass truck 20 MPG average is pretty damn good!

I agree 20 MPG is great for these trucks. I'm averaging 16-17 highway in my truck.

For an EB, 20 is about right. They do kick up a bit after the 4K mark. I know several people pushing 25+mpg doing 60mph on the interstate.

I can't wait for 4k. I should be there in about 7 weeks... I was getting between 13 to 15 in my old Ram and almost turned in my ManCard when I was considering getting a tiny car. I then found this truck w/ EcoBoost. My friend told me to check out the youtube videos and I couldn't believe it. That is until I actually got to test drive it for a full day. It's a great ride and almost drives like a car. Pleased so far. :)

I just got my 2012 eco boost last week and love it so far...the truck is great and rides great...only thing I noticed is a jerk sometimes when I'm slowing down between 3rd and 4rth gear it will jerk alittle. Not much but enough that I notice it when I'm driving it. I called ford and they said they may have to reset the transmission or something on it..is this accurate of them to do or just a easy way out

I have 7,500 miles on my EB with an average over the last 4,000 miles of 15.9. I drive an average of 30 miles a day to and from work. I drive on the Interstate on most of the miles at an average speed of 80 which is why I don't get better than 15.9. If I drive 55 it gets a lot better.

I have 6600 miles on mind. 2 whl drive. with 3.55 gears / 20" whls. i drive 11 miles round trip to work. I can get it up to 17 if I keep my foot out of it. Which is hard to do. Most of the time I'm around 16 or so. One 300 mile road trip yielded 18.5. I spent a lot of time driving 70+ also. As for the power, amazing that a 5200 lb. vehicle with a V-6 runs this well. Tops out in the 1/4 mile at 100 mph. Just under 15 seconds. I've left several folks behind at the light and even one Law Enforcement officer in a Hemi Charger. Unmarked dark grey. The light turned green, I took off, he was in left lane, just behind me, already moving, I pressed on the pedal about 1/3 of the way, he hit the pedal, started pulling on me, so i pressed a little harder and he pressed harder so i buried the pedal, and took off. At about 85, he took a left and disappeared. When he slowed down to turn left is when I realized it was an unmarked patrol vehicle. I waited for a ticket in the mail ,never came. Thank God!!!

The V6 has the same mileage as the V8 and less power and is more complex.

LOL what? Did you even do any homework before posting? I'd like to know how a Duratec 35-series engine (which has been out for well over 10 years) is more complex than a brand new, variable valve timing V8?

I'm confused by this. Pretty sure this thread is about the EcoBoost which makes more power and has better mileage than the 5.0.

I may be new to this forum, but am a seasoned vet on many others and have never seen a user post without at least checking which part of the forum they're in

It depends on the drive in town when my drive to/from work was mostly 40 mph my avg was closer to 19-20, but when I moved and now my drive of basically the same distance is all 30 mph I lost a couple mpgs.

Seems like 45 is the sweet spot for my setup I can get over 35 on a 45mph trip across town. Jump up to 55 on the old highway to visit my mom and that changes to about 27. Go 75 on longer trips and it's more like 21-22.

Guess it all depends on gearing and what rpm is the "sweet spot" for the motor.

but after how many miles? we had a guy with a 4.6L Screw 4x4 trying to tell us he gets 27mpg highway. turns out he only drove 50 miles when he made the claim. when I say AVERAGE I mean for the whole damned tank. Lie-O-Meters get their name for a reason. mine says 21-22 highway, but they dont account for lower BTUs with E10. I get 19 highway

I would say my overall avg runs around 17-18, but I drive 90% city stop n go BS

----------

Idk if the 09-10 do it, but if u hold the ok button on the steering wheel before you start an 11-12 it will give you a whole ton of program versions and jive one of which is lifetime mileage for the truck.

As far as the lie-o-meter: mine is usually within 0.5 from hand calculation.

I was simply reiterating my point from earlier about getting 27-28 cruising at 55mph

Lifetime of my EB. counting all of the idle time warming up and every mile driven.

I have 2310 miles on mine (about halfway to that magic "broken in" stage where gas milage typically improves a bit) with 3.55 gears and 20" wheels. Just for grins, I reset the meter every morning before starting my 21-mile one-way trip to work. About half the drive is in a 45 mph zone and the other half in a 65 mph zone. Usually the meter reads 21 or 22 mpg when I arrive. However, short trips around town (to the grocery store, post office, local watering hole, etc.) are killing me! I set the trip meter at the dealership when I picked up the truck. The overall average gas mileage over the last two months has been 17.4 mpg.

I didn't notice a change after the "break in period" on mine. Still extremely satisfied with mine tho

Those are some pretty good numbers, especially with E10

BFEB
05-08-2012, 01:27 PM
Ya I avoid the E10. There's still a few stations around here with 100% gasoline. I only use the E10 stations if I absolutely have to. Seems I lose at least 1 mpg with that crap

Raptor05121

I lost 1.5-2
