Does anyone know what's different between the xl, xlt, fx4, stx

Depends on the MY and accessory groups. Some XLTs have an accy group that others do not, but generally for the 10th gens it looks something like this:

XL: Base model, cloth/vinyl seats, no power windows, etc.
XLT: Same as above, power windows, tachometer, cargo lamps, dome/map lights, power locks, perimeter lighting, cruise, CD player, etc
FX4: Offroad package, bigger wheels/tires, fender flares, 4WD on the fly
STX: Appearance package. Special grille, valance, headlights. Offered in 1998 and 2003 only
Lariat: Step between XLT and King Ranch. Power captains chairs, power everything. 4.6L and 5.4L only. painted bumpers and trim
King Rang: Leather-interior. 5.4L SCrew only. Offered in two colors with 17" wheels and trim everywhere
Lightning: Special SVT street truck, Supercharged 5.4L, single cab styleside
Harley Davidson: 99-00 Scab only, one color. Non-S/C 5.4L V8. 2001-2003, Supercharged SCrew, 2 colors, leather everywhere

Correct, but the STX is available still, it's basically an upgraded version of the XL, just more goodies.
