So two years ago my uncle handed me the keys to the family plane. He lost his medical so he gave it to me. He is also known for not taking care of things. So this plane hasn't flown in over 3 years and hasnt run in close to 1.5 years.

So I go out to it, struts are deflated. Tires are flat. Battery hasn't held a charge in over a year. So I spent some money (anything for an airplane is 3-4x more expensive than their automotive counterparts), like $180 on a tiny battery, air up struts, etc. So after a year of going out to my plane and watch it sit, I finally got it running. The battery was the main stipulation, but now that she is running, I don't have to worry about it rotting away. I am in search of a mechanic to get an annual completed so I can get my pilots license.

Nice, I wish I could help you with that, but I'm no aviation genius lol. Fly by California sometime if you get your license, I love flying. I plan on getting mine one day when I have the money for it (hopefully).

Good to see it is back up and running. Hate seeing a good plane sit and rot. I know what you mean about everything plane related costing a butt load more. Uncle just got done building an experimental kit plane that it took him 5 years and $150k to build.

That's awesome man. Happy for u. When u get her in the air maybe u can fly to millvile New Jersey. It's an old 2nd ww p-47 base. Adjacent to a brand new road course race track. Sounds like a fun afternoon to me.

Your so lucky to have a plane and to be able to get a pilots license... They won't even let me try for a pilots license cause I'm color blind. :( So I think it's freaking awesome that you got your plane up and running!

pockets, I don't know who told you that- you surely CAN get a private pilots license if you are colorblind. My grandfather is 100% blind in his right eye and color blind in his left, he has been flying since 1952
