I have a 2002 ford f-150 super-crew. I just put in a pioneer deh-x3500ui head unit and wanted to upgrade the door speakers as well. I listen to rap and country, so bass would be nice to have. Price doesn't matter too much but I don't want to waste money.
Thank you ahead of time.

What are you wanting to know? Best brand?

i have a pioneer head unit as well in my truck. i put pioneer premier speakers in all four doors. i typically listen to metal unless my girlfriend plays country and without an amp or sub the speakers still put out decent bass. they were real easy to install as well

Yes, what brand? And also does anyone know anything about the kicker k68? Are they good speakers?

I suggest going to your nearest audio shop and check out several different brands. One that sounds good to someone else may not to you.

Well can you tell me what the difference is between ds68 and ks68?

BFEB

Between those two the KS68 would be my choice. Handles almost twice the power, the surround is made of better material, and the tweeter is 1/4" bigger. Plus the DS68 is discontinued so you'll have better luck getting the KS68

Would my head unit be able to push the k68 good?

Barnard10

I mean would it be able to push the ks68?

BFEB
05-06-2013, 03:56 PM
Yes. It would actually overpower the others at max vol so I would get the higher capability of the KS

Last thing do you know anything about the cs68?

BFEB

The cs is a 3 way speaker so you'll get some more mid range out if it, but it seems comparable to the KS series.

Out of those would you still go with the KS?

Which should I go with out of those and KS?

BFEB

I'd prolly go KS. Better all around IMO

Okay. Thanks for the help. I'll probably go buy them this weekend.

----------

Should I get 4 ks or like 2 ks and 2 other speakers?

BFEB

I'd just get 4. Might as well have em all match.

Which 6x8 have really strong bass? Sound quality isn't too important. They are going in the back. I just want bass out of them

BFEB

Usually 6X8 and bass don't coincide, but I've heard pioneer is about as good as it gets for bass without amplification.

Is the bass clearer and louder with an amp?

Jersey_Joe

Absolutely. I have an all pioneer setup. With amps. I love it. Hav had no probs

My speakers sound like they can't take anymore bass but my head units peak is nowhere near the peak of my speakers? So would an amp be a good thing to get?

Jersey_Joe

Yup. Wouldn't hurt

Should I get a 4 channel amp for my door speakers and then another 2 channel amp for subs? Or should I get a 4 channel amp and use 2 for door speakers and 2 on the subs?

BFEB
05-16-2013, 06:00 PM
I'd run a 4 channel for all the doors then run the subs in a series bridged on a 2 channel amp

Barnard10

What's a good amp to run to the ks680 speakers(4)?

Jhunter1

If you're wanting the amp to match the speakers I would go with a 4 channel kicker amp that the rms of each channel matches the rms of the speakers. but if not pioneer and rockford fosgate make good amps for the low

Barnard10

Do you have an exact model?

Jhunter1

Kicker DX400.4

Barnard10

Will the 50w rms amp sound good with my 60w rms speakers?

BFEB
05-17-2013, 05:36 AM
That should be fine, but believe it or not its actually better to overpower than underpower. As long as you aren't at max volume all the time you utilize more of the speakers available power in typical listening. You just want to avoid the amp clipping from being maxed out and burning up the voice coils from it.

Jhunter1

I didn't realize it was only 50w rms per channel im not that familiar with Kicker. If I remember right there was a 640.4 or something along those lines for a little bit more money

If I get a 6 channel amp can I have the subs perform at a different frequency than the door speakers?

BFEB
05-17-2013, 03:13 PM
You'll need separate amplifiers for the difference in frequencies between the subs (lows) and door speakers (highs and mids)

Can someone recommend a 4 channel amp with 60-75w per channel please? One that isn't outrageously priced please

Jhunter1

Rockford Fosgate R400-4D

Barnard10

I know people say dont pay attention to peak power, but the peak on that amp is 100w per channel and the speakers peak per channel is 180. Can this still cause the amp to clip if it hits peak power?

BFEB

Rms is the only rating that really matters
